Victoria, my “Queen Victoria”. It’s taken me several days to find words.. This is not how things were supposed to go. We were still planning how I was going go take up the role of your “mum” on your wedding day. I will forever cherish the candid chats. That you felt you could open up to me. Thank you for choosing to spend your last Christmas on earth with my family. The four days you stayed with my boys and I after Christmas were special. That early morning walk from Kabete to Kangemi market, just the two of us. That breakfast we shared at the Swahili restaurant downtown that you introduced me to 🙂 The Metro bus ride to Kitengela on the 29th as we talked about everything and nothing. But somehow, I only have a hazy memory of December 30th, the last day I saw you. Like there was a disconnect. A drifting away. Little did I know that one week later, you would disconnect from us for good. Your little “brother” Habil still remembers you every day in his prayers and says “God, please keep Vicky safe in your Kingdom up in Heaven.” He’s only 7 and he has no doubt where you are. “up there” with the rest of the Angels. Rest well Victoria, till we meet again some day. Your “special Aunt” Monica.
