Vicky, the bouncing baby with such energy that carrying you to church was an issue for me. I had to use a leso and eventually, my late beloved husband made a beautiful handmade baby carrier (which is a souvenir up to date ).
Vicky, the aggressive scholar, scout, debator, upcoming journalist name it . Besides being multi talented, the self-drive and conducive environment provided by God and your mum, school,teachers and all other stakeholders were fully utilized . Thanks Vicky, Vicky victorious has always been my reference to you, my dear beloved grand daughter , Vicky . The same will remain engraved in my heart forever .
Vicky the self disciplined daughter utilized the saying “cleanliness is next to Godliness”. You kept your environment spick and span .
As for the purple colour, it’s so amazing to me. It has been my ‘signature ‘ colour for the last 65 years . I am so proud to be associated with you . Vicky, you fought ,you spoke , you and your mum sought help. Thank you .
You’ve only slept . You’ve lived this at the time of God’s dispensation of grace . You’re just gone to your maker before us and I believe we will meet again . For that reason, I obediently release you . Fare thee well, in Jesus Name till we meet again .

Mummy, How Vicky loved you and her Guka. You’ve captured her essence. Plus the love you and Guka had for her. That baby carrier, handmade from scratch was Dad’s way of letting me knowhow much he cared about me, and loved me even though I was going to be an unwed mother. To this day, I remain thankful.
Thank you for taking Vicky Victorious to your church on your back in a lesso. The same church where she was dedicated to God by your Pastor. Remember the time when she wandered out of the church compound and could not be found until late that Sunday afternoon? I could not believe you and Dad traversed the whole neighborhood looking for her for hours while she was sitting in a salon near Langata Junior eating sweets and entertaining the salonists and their customers. They were so fascinated by her laughter, antiques, stories and confidence that it’s probable none of them actually imagined she might be really lost. They just waited calmly all afternoon until someone showed up looking for her.
You and Dad deliberately kept me in the dark about the fact that she was missing until you finally found her. Later on, you told me that you did this to spare me the agony of worry. I’ll never forget just how exhausted but very relieved you both looked when you finally got home with her. I had imagined you had gone visiting one of your friends after church with her. Now I pray that in her eternity, she will remain the confident, engaging and deep person she was even as a child. There is probably a good reason why very special people like her do not get to spend too long in this wicked and corrupted world.
Thank you for attending so many of Vicky’s school functions including teacher/ parent meetings with me. It felt very empowering to have my mother who was a school teacher for 34 plus years standing by me as a raised Vicky Victorious. You played a huge part in her life journey, especially by helping me to make important decisions about her life.
Thank you for being Vicky’s sweet grandmother. She actually enjoyed your impromptu fried githeri. The one you spice with carrots, hoho (green bell pepper) and indian curry powder. I’m glad she got to live with you again in her last years of life. It felt nice to send her up the stairs to serve you dinner. I love you, Mum and alway will.
